Nearly two centuries ago, a confectioners shop was open in Leon, near the Cathedral, in the Calle Ancha, which will soon acquire a well-deserved fame... |
Some time later the owner, Camilo de Blas, decided to move to Asturias, and in February 1914 he opens the shop with the same name in Oviedo, in the Jovellanos Street. This shop would later be run by his son José, and afterwards by Josés children, and nowadays by his grandson (fourth generation). |

On hearing the name Camilo de Blas, two things come immediately to our mind: the extremely famous "carbayones", invented by this family on the occasion of the first International Trade Show held in Asturias in 1924, and nowadays imitated by most of Oviedos confectioners, and the beautiful shop, located in an art noveau building in the Jovellanos Street. Whoever enters it feels himself translated to the past, because it is exactly the same as in that day on February 1914 when it was first open to the public. |
